WHY EasyMifare (V1)?

Mifare smart cards are most popular smart cards on the planet today. More than billion was produced by NXP - Germany. That card is mostly used in mass transportation industry and many cities around the world have implemented bus or subway payment system based on this cards.

Same kind of card is used for physical access to rooms and buildings. This cards are inexpensive, easy to program and use. They are blank on both sides with no any markings on them so they can be printed on. It is perfectly logical. if you want to use this card for access control you might want to print person's picture on the card.

Every Mifare smart card has a 4 byte long unique serial number embedded in chip as it comes from factory. Sometimes it is useful to know what that serial number is. Besides that, there is free memory space in every Mifare card and maybe it would be useful if you can utilize that for let's say student ID.
